Two Ways To Wear Rich Black

We felt like our deepest shade needed its own appreciation post to show how beautiful this intense black hue truly is. To demonstrate Rich Black’s multi-dimensional impact, we asked content creators Sarennya Srimugayogam (@sarennya) and Trésor Prijs (@tresorprijs _) to show us how they each uniquely pull off their dramatic Rich Black looks.

Name: Trésor Prijs

About Me:

I am a freelance writer, editorial consultant, brooding Scorpio babe and an occasionally bearded Canadian dream girl.

Location:

New Brunswick, Canada

Starting hair color and texture:

My hair colour is naturally a cool, dark blonde which has been colour treated to a shivering shade of inky black. The texture is fine, but rather dense with a modest natural wave.

What sold you on oVertone?

I had been searching for what seemed like an eternity for a product that could expand the space between the times where I needed to touch up my hair with a peroxide activated colour as it began to fade and blonde roots began to peek through. I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to beauty and fell down a rabbit hole of research which before long led me to discovering oVertone. The brand left me genuinely excited and I knew I had to try it.

Why did you choose Rich Black? What was your #hairgoal?

I ended up ordering the Rich Black Coloring Conditioner for myself. I was already swooning over the (vegan and cruelty-free!) ingredients list, but what sealed the deal was the fact that Rich Black had such an exquisite hue of amethyst running through the base. Its promise was precisely what I had been seeking – nothing before had fit the admittedly demanding bill quite as beautifully. My ultimate #hairgoal was to maintain a hair colour so nocturnal and rich that it seemed to absorb any light that dare touch its strands. I wanted this without the use of peroxide activated dyes every single time that abyssal depth began to wane. I wanted nourishment, to know I was treating my hair with kindness. I had #hairgoal greed and Rich Black met my ambition with results. I haven’t looked back since.

What’s your favorite thing about oVertone?

Aside from the fact that I was able to arrive at the end goal I had envisioned, I was most impressed by how simple the product was to weave into my existing routine. If something is difficult to use or takes too much of my time it will simply fall out of favour and end up in a drawer collecting dust. The Rich Black Coloring Conditioner offered a substantial result without the need to reorganize my entire routine. I slotted it in where another deep conditioner would have gone and it was as simple as that – no disruption.

How does your hair contribute to your identity?

My hair has afforded me a means of manifesting the beautiful, gradient beauty of my non-binary gender identity. It’s served as an affirmation of my femininity, a veil of security under which I found solace and very simply a way to feel beautiful when I found beauty a difficult thing to see. Though physical manifestations of beauty are ultimately fleeting and pale in comparison to the beauty within, it has done my heart so much good to have my hair serve as a looking glass into my interior world through a tangible display of self expression.

Final thoughts on oVertone?

15/10 would recommend. It’s changed the way I care for my colour treated hair and improved its condition in a way I can feel in my day-to-day life. I look forward to using it every single week.

What sold you on oVertone?

I’ve used the Extreme Blue Colouring Conditioner in the past to achieve my blue colour and I always came away from the dyeing process with hair that felt so much more alive and healthy than before it was coloured. I also really love the colour pay off from the product.

Why did you choose Rich Black? What was your #hairgoal?

I wanted to achieve a natural hair colour as I have been bleaching and processing my hair for so many years. I am also very fond of having my hair coloured so having a semi permanent product seemed like a great choice in case I wanted to go back to coloured hair in the future. I also love the way my hair feels after using the colouring conditioner, its so soft, and voluminous so that’s why i chose the product.

What’s your favorite thing about oVertone?

It’s really easy to use, doesn’t require a lot of time out of my day, and doesn’t strip my hair when adding colour. My hair feels so voluminous and healthy after using the product.

How does your hair contribute to your identity?

I have for so long used my hair as an extension of my self expression. Whatever colour it’s been I’ve always used it as a tool to enhance my fashion choices or how I present.

Final thoughts on oVertone?

I love oVertone, I always get compliments and questions on my hair and I can’t recommend them enough! I can’t wait for my hair to return to its natural texture now that I won’t need to bleach it to maintain a colour!

By now, you’ve probably been convinced to give Rich Black a try, and we don’t blame you. Order yours today, and make sure to show us your look when you take your hair over to the dark side.
