How to Get Rose Silver Hair
Rose Gold not for you? Need something cooler-toned? Rose Silver may just be what you need. Our new Rose Silver kit combines Pastel Red with Pastel Silver, and allows you to mix it yourself to create an ombre, or to adjust the ratio as you need to make it more or less silver.
As with any Pastel hue, you’ll want to have platinum blonde strands for Rose Silver. You can see in the before photo that my ends are quite a few levels lighter than my mid-lengths, which have only gone through one bleach. Because of that, the mids picked up less pigment – the less hair is bleached, the less porous it is; and the less porous it is, the less pigment it will absorb. I really liked the ombre effect it gave me though, and the chocolatey-mauve warmth it lent to the Rose Silver!
With that said, here’s how it’s done:
1. Mix the Pastel Red and Pastel Silver Deep Treatments in a glass or plastic bowl. We mixed them in a 1:1 ratio.
2. Section your hair horizontally so you don’t miss any parts. Here’s what the sectioning looks like – you don’t have to be very exact, but you do want to make sure that your sectioned hair is out of the way so you can reach all the strands that need to be coated:
You can really see just how brassy my mid-lengths were here! So happy the Rose Silver covered this nicely!
3. Apply all over – I applied it to dry hair because I find my hair absorbs more pigment when it’s dry. You can totally apply to wet hair as well, though! Then, wait 10 minutes, check Instagram, etc…
4. Rinse clean. That’s it!

in the picture did she wait for her hair colour to fade or did she use products to remove the colours before using overtone? my teal hair has turned inty a mucky green but it’s still bright and i’m thinking of changing it up. do i need to bleach it?

We usually recommend fading out your color as much as you can, before re-coloring or bleaching – that will help you get better results with less damage than bleaching over full-strength color. How fast oVertone will fade from your depends on what type of hair you have, how long you’ve been using oVertone, etc. There are a few things you can do to help fade your hair fast and safely. Hey Jasmine, I’m the model pictured! I didn’t wait for the colours to fade from what’s pictured – if you watch the video you can see me apply product directly to the pictured “before” tone. There are plenty of colours you can apply directly over a faded teal – I just put extreme pink over a faded teal this month! Just make sure you strand test x
What’s the best daily conditioner to use with this color?
Hi Danielle! The best way to maintain this shade is to grab a Daily Conditioner in both Pastel Red and Pastel Silver and either mix them in the shower or alternate! If you grab only one, your hair will start to lean toward that shade over time. I am “transitioning” to grey. My hairdresser has been adding blonde highlights to make the process less noticable. I would like to do away with bleaching entirely. Can your product (s) help?

I’ve been using extreme silver on my 90% gray/white hair for a couple of years. It’s a little more blue than silver due to my natural color. I love it.
