How to Change your Hair Color from Bold to a Natural-Looking Hue

3 easy steps to change your hair color from Fantasy to Basic

Fantasy colors are always fun, but sometimes it’s nice to go back to the basics with natural shades. But how do you change your hair color without damaging your hair?

oVertone makes it easy to transition while keeping your hair healthy. Keep reading to see what you need and how to do it.

STEP 1: Wash Color Away with The Fader Clarifying Shampoo

The first step to transitioning from fantasy to basic is fading your semi-permanent color and The Fader Shampoo will do just that. And our first-ever clarifying cleanser makes the transition from one oVertone color to another effortless.

How To Use

  • Apply from root to end on wet hair
  • Evenly lather your hair
  • Allow to sit for 2 minutes
  • Rinse out thoroughly

Follow up with a deep conditioner—we recommend The Remedy!

It may take a few washes to fade your shade. Results will vary based on your current shade, hair porosity, etc.

STEP 2: Reach for a Toning Conditioner

Once you’ve faded your color, you may have a few undertones hanging around. Bold, vivid, and fantasy colors tend to leave behind yellow and orange hues due to intense pigmentation.

Luckily, oVertone has a variety of Toning Conditioners that balance undertones, to create a neutral base for your new, natural-looking shade.

Purple Toning Conditioner

Balances out yellow undertones.

Blue

Removes brassy orange undertones.

Pink

Designed to balance out silver shades.

Green

Takes out brassiness from faded red color.

How to Use

Step 1: After fading your hair, let it dry.

Step 2:  Before applying it all over, do a strand test. If everything is good to go, apply Toning Condition evenly, from roots to ends.

Step 3: Saturate & let it sit for 2–3 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse thoroughly.

How To Use

  • Apply Coloring Conditioner to wet or dry hair
  • Let sit for 10–15 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly
  • Style hair and show off that gorgeous new hue
