If you’ve received an order in the past few weeks, you’ve probably noticed that it now includes a gorgeous new poster with a quiz on the back – we know you secretly love flow chart quizzes. But we couldn’t keep the secret behind this art to ourselves. It’s our pleasure to introduce an Australian up-and-comer in graphic design & illustration: Millie Sander. View her website or follow her on Instagram @ameliahsander.
I’m Millie, a graphic designer/creative from Adelaide, South Australia with a passion for colour, shapes and anything creative.
I was always interested In art and illustration as a kid, and it has always come quite naturally to me. I studied graphic design at Uni and took every opportunity I could to get my foot in the door after my studies. I have worked for a range of different clients and in a few different graphic design roles. Each project is so unique to the next and I think that is why I love it so much.
I recently worked on a coffee campaign with a health food company. Five different coffee cups were designed, each containing a different subject. World Vision, The Great Barrier Reed and Sourcing Ethical Coffee Beans were just a few. The aim of these cups was to educate the community about world issues and give customers the opportunity and knowledge to reach out and help. I love working on projects that can make a difference; it is such a great feeling!
This was a really fun project to work and the brand really speaks for itself. I took inspiration from the bright, fun youthful brand that is overtone and turned it into something people could display on their bedroom walls.
I would love to own a creative studio, working with other creatives to produce things that are quite left of centre. Creating things by hand are what I love most and incorporating this into my work gives me quite a unique style. One of my long term goals is to start up a creative homewares brand creating a range of prints, ceramics and textiles. I am homewares obsessed!
I am really loving artists that use simple colours and shapes. My current faves would have to be Atelier Bingo, Anna Beam and Karl-Joel Lrsn to name a few.
I never thought I would say this but I am really loving fringes and layering at the moment. It’s making a comeback!
