I don’t know about you guys, but I’m all about that Do It Yourself life. Keeping your hair fresh and happy can be an expensive task – but don’t worry, the oVertone Team has got you covered!
Want to see it all in action? Lucky for you, we videotaped the whole thing! Check out our DIY masterpieces here:
Clarifying Shampoo is super important to keeping the integrity of your strands. It helps to get rid of any product or dirt buildup on your scalp and locks, leaving them refreshed and prepped for the next hair journey! Using a Clarifying Shampoo is especially important if you Co-Wash, which is using conditioner to wash your hair. I’m guilty of using too much of my cleansing conditioner; The Clarifying Shampoo definitely helps mediate the super textured, greasy patches.
For the Clarifying Shampoo we used:
1 Tablespoon of Sea Salt,
3 Tablespoons of Baking Soda,
And 1 Tablespoon of H2O!
Mix it all together, and Voila! Clarifying Shampoo. Use it once a month, and be sure to work it all the way down your strand. Then rinse it out!
Our DIY Shine Tonic is especially important to use after the Clarifying Shampoo. It contains Apple Cider Vinegar, an acidic solution that balances the PH in your hair (especially after using something with Baking Soda, which has non acidic, alkaline properties to it), provides shine, and reduces dandruff – all while sealing the strand of your hair to keep moisture in.
Tea Tree Oil is also an important ingredient in this tonic. It’s medicinal, and it helps with hair regrowth!
For the Shine Tonic we used:
¼ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ Cup of H2O
2-3 Drops of Tea Tree Oil
Apply this after you use your Clarifying Shampoo – pour it over your clean hair, and then rinse it out! Shiny mermaid locks, ACHIEVED.
The amount of each ingredient used depends on how much and how long your hair is. Feel free to double it up, and if you have some left over, store it in the fridge for up to one week!
After you use your new Clarifying Shampoo and Shine Tonic, definitely grab some oVertone conditioner to restore your moisture and keep your color looking fresh — Your oVertone will work even better now that you have a clean slate!
